1 Kings 3:4-28
This is probably another familiar story. It has found its way into colloquial language, when we talk about the wisdom of Solomon. So, let’s dip back into this story. Solomon starts off in a dream, conversing with God. God give Solomon a wish, a single request, and Solomon recounts what God has done for David, and then asks for a mind do govern and to discern between good and evil. God grants that request, praises Solomon for it, and gives more on top of that request.
And then this wisdom gets put to the test. Two women come to Solomon, and they have quite a challenge. A child dies in the night, and then there is a baby swap, or is there? How will Solomon decide? What will he do? How will the gift of God play out here? Do we hear a contrast between David and Solomon?
