Acts 6:1—7:2a, 44-60
And it should look and sound familiar. When there’s lots of change, there’s lots of issues. There are problems between Jews and Greeks, and a perception of unfairness. There is calling of new leaders, and friction between Jews and Christians. Stephen reprises the role of Jesus, as all Christians are called to do.
The world needs this story to be told. It needs the world to be told again and again and again. It needs to move from Jews to Greeks. It needs to move from women to men, and back again. It needs to move through the world. It needs to move on the backs, hands, and hearts of people, to encounter the reality of evil in the world with the presence of God.
How is this our story? How are we living out the Acts of the Apostles, the Gospel of the Resurrection today, here and now? Who might be watching as we tell the story of our God? What might hearing the story do to them?
