Acts 8:26-39
So often our assumption is that missionaries and evangelism and conversion work is just sent to people who have never heard the Gospel. Contained inside that assumption are several others. One is that the Gospel is do obvious, and so compelling, and so irresistible that one only needs to be introduced to it to be converted by it. Of course, we, as people of faith, known that we have known and been introduced to the Gospel, and have studied it for years, still fall short (far short) or living lives that reflect the Gospel.
This passage points out another aspect of sharing the Gospel that we often forget – walking with someone as they discern their faith and explore the Scriptures. Scripture is powerful – the Word of God is powerful – but it isn’t a self-directed plan of study. Who has helped you navigate the Word, and who have you helped and who are you helping to navigate the Word?
