Philippians 2:1-13 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who became obedient to death.
Paul reminds the church at Philippi and the church at 1200 S Carbon what it is we are to be about. You’d think we wouldn’t forget – we’re supposed to worship weekly, and pray more often than that, but sometimes we do forget. Paul challenges, and entreats the church to be of the same mind – not of the same mind with one another, but of the same mind with the Spirit. Paul then presents what that might look like.
Paul exhorts them to be about their own work – not to be dependent on him, but to be dependent on Christ. And that’s good advice for disciples today. We often become too dependent on one person – an official leader or an unofficial one – to lead us in being the church. What is God at work in us, in you doing, and how are you working out your own salvation?
