Matthew 6:7-21, 25-34
Here Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray. And we basically pray this prayer each and every week. Some of us say debts, and some say trespasses, some ask to be delivered from evil and others to be spared from trials. Yet we all are praying the prayer that Jesus taught. And for all that we pray it every week, we still have trouble with it.
Jesus goes on to give some more advice or direction. We are not to worry about our lives. We are to believe that God will provide. Which we struggle with. We try to do it ourselves. We make our own plans. And we worry.
We can hear this prayer and this passage as more than prayer. We can hear it as promise. We ask for our daily bread, for what we need for today, and Jesus asks us to consider how God provides for creation and for us. How can our faith guide us through our worries for each and every day?
